Credit Card Verdict HDFC Regalia Gold

What we like

  • 5 RP per ₹200 on ALL retail categories — including insurance, utilities, and education (most cards exclude these)
  • 6 international Priority Pass lounge visits per year (primary + add-on) — no spend condition, unchanged in 2026
  • Milestone flight vouchers: ₹5,000 on ₹5L annual spend + additional ₹5,000 on ₹7.5L — up to ₹10,000/year
  • Boarding Edge: 2 complimentary travel benefits/quarter (spa, Uber transfer, hotel buffet, or room upgrade) on uploading boarding pass via SmartBuy — new May 2026
  • Welcome benefit: ₹2,500 voucher on card issuance + Swiggy One + MMT Black Gold on ₹1L spend within 90 days

Watch out for

  • Domestic lounge access now requires ₹60,000 quarterly spend (from July 1, 2026) — previously unconditional. 3 visits/quarter only if threshold is met
  • Base reward rate reduced from 4 RP/₹150 (1.33%) to 5 RP/₹200 (1.25%) from May 15, 2026 — a silent cut
  • 2% forex markup on international transactions + new 1.75% DCC markup on INR-billed overseas transactions from May 2026
  • 5X partner brand bonus capped at 5,000 RP/month across Myntra, M&S, Nykaa, Reliance Digital combined — fills at ~₹16,667 combined spend

*5 RP per ₹200 on eligible retail spends effective May 15, 2026 (previously 4 RP/₹150). 5X on Myntra, M&S, Nykaa, Reliance Digital — capped 5,000 bonus RP/month combined. 1 RP = ₹0.50 via SmartBuy flights/hotels; ₹0.65 via Gold Catalogue. Domestic lounge: 3 visits/quarter on ₹60,000 preceding quarter spend from July 1, 2026. International lounge: 6 visits/year via Priority Pass, no spend condition. 2% forex + 1.75% DCC from May 2026. Credit Card Achievers HDFC Regalia Gold

Is HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card Worth It in 2026?

Yes — but the calculus is more deliberate than it used to be. HDFC Regalia Gold was, until mid-2026, one of the easiest 'yes' cards in India: transparent benefits, unconditional lounge access, and milestone vouchers that routinely offset the ₹2,500 fee several times over. The 2026 updates have added conditions where there were none. For the right spender, the card still delivers exceptional value. At ₹7.5L annual spend: ₹2,500 annual fee waived + ₹6,000 in quarterly vouchers (₹1,500 × 4 quarters at ₹1.5L/quarter) + ₹10,000 flight vouchers = ₹18,500 in guaranteed benefits, before a single reward point is counted. Add 5 RP/₹200 on all retail (including insurance and utilities) at ₹0.50/RP, and the effective annual return at ₹7.5L spend easily crosses ₹23,000+. On a ₹2,500 card. That's still compelling. The honest caveats: domestic lounge access from July 2026 requires ₹60,000/quarter — not everyone will hit this. The May 2026 base rate cut (1.33% → 1.25%) is small but real. And the DCC 1.75% markup on INR-billed international transactions is new. For users who relied primarily on the unconditional lounge access, this card has weakened. For those who will use SmartBuy, hit milestones, and earn on all categories, Regalia Gold still leads the ₹2,500–₹3,500 fee tier.

HDFC Regalia Gold remains India's best mid-premium travel card at ₹2,500/year for users who spend ₹5L+ annually. The milestone flight vouchers alone justify the card — the rest is pure upside.

HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card Benefits

How to Get the Most Out of HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card

Hit ₹1.5L/Quarter for Milestone Vouchers - The ₹1,500 quarterly voucher unlocks at ₹1,50,000 spend in a calendar quarter — ₹50,000/month. If Regalia Gold is your primary card, this is achievable by routing hotel bookings, insurance premiums, shopping, and utility bills through the card. Four qualifying quarters = ₹6,000/year in vouchers before any reward points are counted. Spend ₹60,000/Quarter from Jul 2026 for Domestic Lounge - From July 2026, domestic lounge access requires ₹60,000 in the preceding quarter — ₹20,000/month. This is a much lower bar than many competitors. Check your quarterly spend on SmartBuy at the start of each quarter to verify lounge eligibility before your trip. Use Boarding Edge Every Quarter You Fly - Upload your boarding pass on HDFC SmartBuy to unlock 2 complimentary travel benefits per quarter — spa, Uber airport transfer, hotel buffet, or room upgrade. This is a new May 2026 benefit that most cardholders haven't discovered yet. Set a reminder to upload every boarding pass. Shop Partner Brands Within the 5X Cap - The 5X bonus on Myntra, M&S, Nykaa, and Reliance Digital (combined 5,000 RP/month cap) fills at ~₹16,667 combined spend. Route all fashion and beauty purchases here — especially during sale seasons — to maximise the 6.25% effective earn rate on these brands. Redeem via Gold Catalogue for Best RP Value - 1 RP = ₹0.65 via the Gold Catalogue (Apple, Fitbit, Bose, and other premium brands) — the highest redemption rate on this card. Always check the Gold Catalogue before choosing SmartBuy (₹0.50/RP). For those with travel redemption intent, SmartBuy flights/hotels at ₹0.50 remains the most flexible option.
