Key Takeaways
- BOBCARD can revise any term, fee, or charge at its sole discretion with 30 days' prior notice - changes are communicated via the BOBCARD website, and the website notice alone is deemed sufficient. You do not need to receive a personal email or SMS for a change to be binding.
- The interest-free grace period (20–50 days) applies only if you paid the previous month's Total Amount Due in full AND made no ATM cash withdrawals. A single missed full payment or cash advance eliminates the grace period for new transactions in the following cycle.
- Paying only the Minimum Amount Due (MAD) triggers finance charges on the entire outstanding balance at your card's monthly rate (approximately 3.35%–3.99% per month). The MAD is not a safe harbour - it is the minimum to avoid a late fee, not the amount to avoid interest.
- BOBCARD may share your information with credit bureaus, Bank of Baroda Group companies, regulatory authorities, and third parties as they deem necessary. Your signature on the application form authorises this.
- Your credit card may be renewed automatically unless account conduct is unsatisfactory - but BOBCARD can cancel the card at any time without prior notice if conduct is poor, or if you are in default with any Bank of Baroda Group company.
- The BOBCARD MITC 2026 is the current version; changes effective 15 July 2026 have been announced. Always verify the current MITC at bobcard.co.in/most-important-terms-and-condition.
- Insurance benefits (personal accident cover) can be withdrawn by BOBCARD at its discretion with prior notice. These are in-built benefits, not guaranteed permanent features.
Where to Find the Full MITC
The BOBCARD MITC is available at bobcard.co.in/most-important-terms-and-condition. The current version is the BOBCARD MITC 2026. There are also variant-specific documents for specialised cards: BOBCARD Etihad Guest Credit Card MITC, BOBCARD One MITC, BOBCARD Uni GoldX MITC, and others. If you hold a co-branded or variant card, ensure you read the relevant document - the general MITC and the variant MITC may differ on earn rates, fee structures, and specific card features.
The MITC is to be read alongside the Cardholder Agreement and the product-specific Features & Rewards T&C document, all of which are available on the same page. Feature changes (such as the April 2026 and forthcoming July 2026 revisions) are published separately as "Revision in Product Features and Charges" notices.
Clause 1: BOBCARD's Right to Amend Terms
This is the single most important clause to understand. It establishes that BOBCARD can change any term, fee, interest rate, or feature at its sole discretion:
"The terms and conditions are subject to change at the discretion of BOBCARD LIMITED and/or as per the guidelines issued by the regulators from time to time. The updated MITC with such changes would be uploaded on our website."
What this means in practice:
- BOBCARD must give at least 30 days' prior notice before changing any charge or fee - this is stated in the BOBCARD FAQ ("BOBCARD exclusively reserves the right to alter any/all charges or fees from time to time or introduce any new charges or fees, as it may deem appropriate, by issuing at least 30 days prior notice to the Cardholder/s of such change in the charges or fees")
- Notice is communicated via the BOBCARD website - this is deemed sufficient notification under the T&C. You do not need to receive a personal email or SMS for a change to become binding on your account.
- Continuing to use the card after the change comes into effect is treated as your acceptance of the revised terms
- To stay informed: check bobcard.co.in for revision notices periodically, and read any SMS or email from BOBCARD about product changes before dismissing them
The 15 July 2026 revision is a current example of this clause in action: BOBCARD announced feature and charge revisions via their homepage with advance notice, and cardholders were directed to bobcard.io/1Jul26 for details.
Clause 2: Interest-Free Grace Period - The Exact Conditions
BOBCARD offers 20 to 50 days interest-free on retail purchases. This is not automatic - it applies only when specific conditions are met:
| Condition | Effect on Grace Period |
|---|---|
| Total Amount Due from previous statement paid in full before payment due date | Grace period applies fully - 20 to 50 days on new purchases |
| Only Minimum Amount Due (or any partial amount) paid | Grace period is LOST - finance charges apply to the entire outstanding from statement date, and new purchases also begin accruing interest from their transaction date |
| Cash advance / ATM withdrawal made in the current or previous cycle (unpaid) | Grace period does not apply - interest on the cash advance runs from the date of withdrawal regardless |
| Previous balance cleared in full, no cash advance | Full grace period available on all new retail purchases |
BOBCARD's own illustration: billing date of 1st of the month, statement generated 1 May, payment due date 20 May. A purchase on 14 April has 37 days interest-free. A purchase on 20 April has 31 days interest-free. Both assume the previous month's balance was cleared in full.
The minimum to avoid interest is not the MAD - it is the Total Amount Due. Paying the MAD prevents a late fee and protects your credit score, but interest begins accruing on the unpaid balance from the statement date.
Clause 3: Minimum Amount Due - What It Is and What It Is Not
The Minimum Amount Due (MAD) is the least amount you must pay by the due date to avoid a late payment charge and a negative mark on your credit bureau report. For BOBCARD, the MAD is typically calculated as a percentage of the total outstanding balance - commonly 5% of the Total Amount Due, subject to a minimum floor.
What the MAD does NOT do:
- It does not prevent finance charges on the remaining outstanding - interest applies at 3.35%–3.99% per month on whatever is not paid
- It does not protect the grace period on new purchases - once any balance is carried forward, new transactions begin accruing interest from their transaction date
- It does not reduce the amount you owe in a meaningful way on high balances - at 3.5% monthly interest, a MAD payment on a ₹1,00,000 outstanding may not even cover the monthly interest cost, meaning the balance can grow despite regular payments
The MAD is useful as an emergency minimum if you genuinely cannot pay in full. It should not be treated as a routine payment option.
Clause 4: Cash Advance - No Grace Period, Immediate Interest
Cash withdrawals from ATMs using your BOBCARD are explicitly excluded from the interest-free grace period. BOBCARD's own T&C states: "Finance Charges also accrue on Cash withdrawal from the day of cash withdrawal."
- Cash advance fee: 2.5% of the amount withdrawn or ₹500, whichever is higher
- Interest: begins from the day of withdrawal, at the applicable finance charge rate (3.35%–3.99% per month), regardless of when your statement is generated or when you repay
- Even if you repay the full amount including the cash advance before your due date, the interest for the days between withdrawal and payment still accrues and will appear on your next statement
- Cash advance sub-limit: BOBCARD determines the portion of your credit limit available for cash at its discretion - typically 20%–40% of the credit limit, and lower (20%) for Corporate Premium cards effective 1 April 2026
Clause 5: Over-Limit Fee
If your outstanding balance exceeds your assigned credit limit - including as a result of finance charges, fees, or transactions that push you over - an over-limit fee applies:
- Over-limit fee: 2.5% of the amount by which your outstanding exceeds the credit limit, subject to a minimum of ₹600 plus GST
- BOBCARD's FAQ states: "The outstanding on the card account must not exceed the credit limit at any time, failing which cardholder will be charged additional 2.5% over and above the sanctioned credit limit subject to minimum of Rs.600"
- This is particularly relevant when finance charges and fees accumulate on an already near-limit balance - the charges themselves can push you over the limit, triggering the over-limit fee on top
Clause 6: Card Renewal and Cancellation
Automatic renewal
BOBCARD renews your card automatically on expiry unless:
- Your account conduct is found to be unsatisfactory
- Your credit history per credit bureau is found to be unsatisfactory
You do not need to request renewal - a new card is dispatched before expiry. The annual renewal fee (where applicable) is charged in the first statement after renewal unless the spend-based waiver threshold was met.
BOBCARD's right to cancel
BOBCARD can cancel, suspend, or block your card at any time. The application form and MITC state:
- The card can be cancelled if you are in default with any Bank of Baroda Group company - not just with your BOBCARD account. A default on a BOB loan, for example, can trigger BOBCARD cancellation.
- BOBCARD can suspend card privileges temporarily or permanently if the cardholder or a family member uses their card at prohibited merchants or in prohibited ways
- Card cancellation for dormancy: BOBCARD notifies you of dormancy within 30 days of the card becoming inactive. If no response is received and the card remains unused, it may be closed and reported to the credit bureau
Requesting cancellation yourself
To close your BOBCARD, contact customer care at 1800 2090 or write to crm@bobcard.co.in. Before cancellation: ensure all outstanding dues are cleared, including pending EMI instalments (which become immediately due on cancellation), interest, and fees. Unclosed EMI balances are debited to the card account when the card is cancelled.
Clause 7: Data Sharing and Information Disclosure
By accepting the BOBCARD T&C, you authorise BOBCARD to share your information broadly. The application form states: "I further authorize BOBCARD LIMITED and/or its associates/subsidiaries/affiliates to verify from, and disclose to, any information pertaining to me/my office/residence and/or contact my family members and/or my Employer/Banker/Credit Bureau/CIBIL/RBI and/or any third party including but not limited to Financial credit bureaus/regulatory authorities etc."
This includes:
- Credit bureaus (CIBIL, Experian, Equifax, CRIF High Mark) - every payment, default, and balance is reported monthly
- Bank of Baroda Group companies - your BOBCARD account status is visible across the BOB Group
- Regulatory authorities - RBI and other regulators can access your account data
- Third parties - as BOBCARD deems necessary, within regulatory limits
You can request that BOBCARD not contact you for marketing of other products by emailing BOBCARD - but core account communications (statements, alerts, notices) continue regardless of marketing opt-out.
Clause 8: Your Liability for Charges
The application form contains this clause: "I agree that my signature on the charge slip will amount to an unconditional undertaking by me to pay BOBCARD LIMITED the amount stated therein and agree that a copy of my periodic statement of accounts will be a conclusive evidence of my liability for the charges stated therein."
What this means:
- Your signature on a charge slip is legally binding - disputes must be raised promptly and in writing
- Your monthly statement is treated as conclusive evidence of what you owe - errors must be disputed before the due date on which they appear, not after
- Transaction alerts (SMS, email) are not confirmation of transaction completion - the T&C explicitly states "Transaction alerts received may not be assumed as a confirmation of transaction completion"
Clause 9: Insurance Benefit - Not Guaranteed
Personal Accidental Death Cover and other in-built insurance benefits are stated in the MITC as features BOBCARD provides - but the T&C also establishes that these can be modified:
"The Company reserves the right to withdraw any of the existing features/conditions including Personal Accidental Death Cover." (Source: BOBCARD Universal Application Form)
Additionally: "BFSL may charge a nominal fee (subject to one month prior notice) for extending the insurance cover to the cardholders who opt to avail the facility." This means insurance could, in theory, shift from a complimentary to a fee-based benefit with 30 days' notice.
Best practice: do not treat BOBCARD insurance as equivalent to a standalone insurance policy you have purchased. It is a card benefit, subject to the same amendment rights as any other feature.
Clause 10: Rent Payment Fee (MCC 6513) - Added April 2026
Effective 1 April 2026, BOBCARD introduced a 1% fee (maximum ₹5,000 per transaction) on rent payment transactions made using the Merchant Category Code (MCC) 6513. This applies to payments via platforms like NoBroker, NestAway, or any rental payment platform coded as MCC 6513.
BOBCARD's FAQ example: "If you do a rent payment transaction of Rs. 10,500 using your BOBCARD, a fee of 1% of Rs. 10,500 i.e. Rs. 105.00 will be levied on this transaction." GST applies on this fee.
Similarly from April 2026, a 1% fee applies to online education payments via select third-party platforms (MobiKwik, NoBroker, Paytm, PhonePe, SuperPe). These are new charges added to the general MITC and are not card-variant specific - they apply across all BOBCARD credit cards.
The July 2026 Revision: What to Watch
BOBCARD has announced that some features and charges will be revised effective 15 July 2026. The announcement on bobcard.co.in states: "w.e.f 15th July 2026, some of your BOBCARD features & charges will be revised. Click bobcard.io/1Jul26 or visit our MITC section of website for more details."
If your billing cycle, anniversary year, or any active EMI runs through or past 15 July 2026, review the revision details at the link above before assuming current T&C apply. Specific changes have not been summarised here to avoid providing information that may become inaccurate - read the official revision document directly.
